Tesla's own AI page: "We develop and deploy autonomy at scale in vehicles, robots and more ... the only way to achieve a general solution for Full Self-Driving, bi-pedal robotics and beyond", with Optimus described as the goal of creating an autonomous humanoid robot. tesla.com returns 403 to an automated request; this was read in a browser. Extended 2026-09-18: Tesla, SpaceX and Intel announced a joint semiconductor-fab project, "Terafab", for a site in Grimes County, Texas -- an initial $16.8B investment announced 2026-08-06 (techcrunch.com/2026/08/06/tesla-and-spacex-will-invest-16-8b-to-start-building-terafab-chip-factory-in-texas/), with a prototype at Gigafactory Texas and SpaceX, not Tesla, named as the county's counterparty. EE Times quotes Yole Group analyst Adrien Sanchez reading it as "likely more an Intel fab expansion with Tesla, SpaceX, and xAI as anchor customers, rather than a standalone manufacturing venture" (eetimes.com/intel-enters-pact-with-tesla-and-spacex-for-terafab/), and Intel has not stated its own contribution. The "one terawatt of AI compute per year" headline is not repeated here -- it has no industry-standard definition.
