No company in the directory shares a product capability with this one at the level this rail requires, so it lists nobody rather than filling itself with companies that merely sit in the same category. That is a gap in our product coverage, not a claim that this company has no peers.

Sources

Total funding

Checked — none published

Not applicable — an in-house business of ByteDance, never separately funded.

Valuation

Checked — none published

No standalone valuation is published. The parent's own valuation is deliberately null on the bytedance record too, for the reasons recorded there (five different secondary-market prices in six months, none of them a primed equity round).

Employees

Not found · 19 Sep 2026

No Volcano Engine headcount is published on its own site. ByteDance's own about section gives “over 150,000 employees” for the whole group, which is the parent's figure and not this record's.

Founded

Not found · 19 Sep 2026

Read 2026-09-19: neither the about page nor the site footer states a founding or incorporation date, and the certification section on /about carries none. The ICP licence number 京ICP备20018813号-3 is displayed without a date. UNFOUND, not absent — do not let this null harden into “no such date exists”.

Revenue

Not found · 19 Sep 2026

ByteDance publishes no audited accounts and breaks out no Volcano Engine segment. The one number the vendor does publish on its own homepage, read 2026-09-19 — “火山引擎占中国大模型公有云市场调用量份额 49.5%” — is a share-of-API-call-volume claim, not revenue, and is the vendor's own.

Description

Official documentation · 19 Sep 2026

Its own about page, read in a browser 2026-09-19: “火山引擎是字节跳动旗下的云服务平台,将字节跳动快速发展过程中积累的增长方法、技术能力和应用工具开放给外部企业” (“Volcano Engine is the cloud platform under ByteDance, opening to outside enterprises the growth methods, technical capabilities and application tools accumulated during ByteDance's own rapid growth”). The product line named here was read the same day from the company's own product navigation on volcengine.com: 火山方舟 (Ark) “一站式大模型服务平台”, AgentKit “企业级 AI Agent 平台”, HiAgent “一站式智能体工作站”, 机器学习平台 “企业级云原生机器学习平台”, and the Jeddak AICC / LLMScan / AgentSentry security line. Admitted as its own card, 2026-09-19 (company-admission-standard.md §2): separately branded (the name never says ByteDance), separately domained, and a separate legal entity, 北京火山引擎科技有限公司. The same shape as Huawei Cloud and NAVER Cloud. Whether a brand that DOES carry the parent's name (Alibaba Cloud, Tencent Cloud, both filed under their parents here) is 'separately branded' is a general question not yet settled; it is open in §5 of the admission standard, and this record settles only its own case.
